Popular Event Rental Needs in Parker

How Parker hosts use rentals, from shelter parties to downtown events.

  • Shelter & Pavilion Parties

Park shelters need at least 72 hours' notice, and the rental time has to include setup and teardown. Rent the tables, chairs and linens you need beyond what's at the shelter, and keep tents to 10 by 10 or smaller to stay a simple rental.

  • Tents Larger Than 10 by 10

A tent bigger than 10 by 10 feet turns a park rental into a General Event, and anything over 400 square feet also needs a Building Division permit. Ask the provider for dimensions, specifications and a weighted hold-down plan.

  • Bounce Houses & Kids' Events

Inflatables over 400 square feet trigger a General Event permit and Building Division review, and every inflatable on Town property needs weights unless Parks approves staking. List any inflatable on the rental application.

  • Performances at Discovery Park

Discovery Park's bandshell is built for performances. Add sound and lighting as needed, plan on a generator since Town power isn't guaranteed, and remember that generators and stages count toward a General Event permit.

    Explore Stage Rentals
  • Restrooms on Pavement

Portable toilets go on a parking lot or walk, never on turf or plant beds, and the Town can require extra units for larger events. If you're counting on park restrooms, confirm with the Town that they'll be open and stocked.

    Explore Restroom Trailer Rentals
  • Weddings & Backyard Celebrations

On private property, the Community Event permit only applies at 1,000 or more people outdoors, so most receptions come down to the rental order: a tent, seating, a dance floor, lighting and restrooms. Ask whether a large tent needs a Town building permit.

Planning an Event in Parker?

Parker is a Douglas County town southeast of Denver, with its downtown along Mainstreet and a Parks and Recreation department that rents shelters, fields and downtown parks directly. The Town says most of its parks can support events of up to 100 people; O'Brien Park and Salisbury Park handle larger crowds, Discovery Park has a bandshell for performances, and Salisbury, Bar CCC and Tallman Meadow work for events that use trails.

Park rentals come in levels. A basic shelter or field rental covers a simple party, with requests at least 72 hours ahead. A General Event permit, with 45 to 60 days for approval, applies when a rental adds tents larger than 10 by 10 feet, generators, barricades, stages or inflatables over 400 square feet, or needs Town electricity or water, vendors or security. A Community Event permit, with 60 days for approval, applies to road or public parking lot closures, alcohol on public property, outdoor events of 100 or more people on public property, and 1,000 or more on private property. Applications for January–June events open November 1, and for July–December events, February 15.

Town property has its own setup rules. Tents and inflatables can't be staked without approval from Parks and Recreation, because stakes can damage irrigation, so plan on weights; most parks have water for filling water weights, available for a one-time fee. Portable toilets must sit on pavement, not turf or plant beds, and the Town can require additional restrooms for larger events. Some shelters have outlets, but the Town says electricity is never guaranteed, so a generator is the safer plan when power matters. Any structure over 400 square feet needs vendor specifications and hold-down details plus a separate Building Division permit.

Downtown is the busiest setting. O'Brien Park doesn't allow full-park rentals between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and the Town notes that new event requests there between May and September may not be approved. A Mainstreet closure makes an event Tier 3, the same tier as events of 3,000 or more people, and community events can't be marketed until the Town grants concept approval at its monthly staff review. Afternoon storms are part of the plan too: the National Weather Service says no place outside is safe when thunderstorms are in the area, and a tent isn't a lightning shelter.

Parker Event Rental FAQ

What makes a Parker park rental a General Event?

Adding tents larger than 10 by 10 feet, generators, barricades, stages or inflatables over 400 square feet, or needing Town electricity or water, vendors or security. General Event permits take 45 to 60 days for approval.

Can I stake a tent in a Parker park?

Not without prior approval from Parks and Recreation, because stakes can damage irrigation lines. Plan on weights instead; most parks have water for filling water weights, available for a one-time fee.

Can I rent all of O'Brien Park for a summer event?

Full-park rentals aren't permitted between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and the Town notes that new event requests at O'Brien Park between May and September may not be approved. Salisbury Park and Discovery Park are alternatives for larger or performance events.

Where can portable toilets go at a Parker park event?

On pavement, such as a parking lot or walk, never on turf or in plant beds. The Town can require additional restrooms based on event size, so ask about ratios when you apply.

When can I apply for a Parker community event permit?

For events from January through June, applications open November 1; for July through December, they open February 15. Allow at least 60 days for approval, and don't promote the event until it has concept approval.
